Lack of quorum forces chair to adjourn assembly | KNO

The Deputy Speaker Nazir Ahmad Gurezi on Wednesday adjourned the House for 10 minutes due to lack quorum in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. As the opposition MLA from Banihal was speaking on grants of Industries department, deputy speaker adjourned the House citing that there was no quorum in the House. The maximum members from ruling party as well opposition parties were not in the House during discussion on grants of Industries department. Following this, the deputy speaker also told Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Javid Mustafa Mir that government should be serious in maintaining the quorum of the House. Interestingly, it is mandatory to have presence of at least 23 members in the House to run the proceedings.
